 Redness and Rosacea

Calmer, steadier skin that stops reacting to everything

It shows up uninvited. A flush that rises with heat, wine, stress or for no reason you can name, a persistent redness across the cheeks and nose, fine visible capillaries, skin that stings at products other people use happily. You've probably learned to cover it, and you've maybe been told there's nothing to be done. There is.

What's behind it

Facial redness has a few different drivers, and they often overlap. Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory condition that brings flushing, persistent redness and sometimes bumps. Broken capillaries are tiny visible vessels near the surface. A lot of redness comes from a barrier that's become compromised and reactive. Working out which is which is the first step, because they're treated differently.

The honest truth about redness

There is currently no cure for rosacea, and we'd rather you hear that from us now. The good news is that managing it well makes an enormous difference. The thing that trips people up is harsh treatment, since aggressive actives and the wrong approach inflame redness-prone skin and make it worse. We work the other way, calming and strengthening the skin and its barrier, reducing the visible vessels, and helping you understand your triggers so flare-ups become less frequent. Gentle, here, is the more effective path, not the soft option.

What to expect

This is about management and steady improvement rather than a single fix. Most people see redness calm and flare-ups ease over a course of treatment and the right homecare, especially once we've identified what sets your skin off. We'll be honest about what's realistic for your skin specifically.

Frequently asked questions

What causes facial redness?
Several things, often together: rosacea, which is a chronic inflammatory condition, visible broken capillaries, and a compromised skin barrier that leaves skin reactive. Identifying the cause is what lets us treat it effectively, so it's the first thing we do.

What's the difference between rosacea and just having sensitive, red skin?
Rosacea is a specific chronic condition involving flushing, persistent redness and sometimes bumps, and it tends to follow patterns and triggers.General redness and sensitivity can come from a reactive or damaged barrier without being rosacea. They overlap and are treated in related but different ways, which is why a proper assessment matters.

Can rosacea be cured?
Not cured, but managed very well. With the right treatment, barrier support and trigger awareness, most people see their redness and flare-ups reduce significantly. We'll be honest that it's an ongoing condition, and we'll give you the tools to keep it settled.

Can you get rid of broken capillaries and veins?
Yes, visible capillaries can be treated, either with Aerolase or with our Clinical Skin Clear for individual vessels. We'll assess yours and recommend the right approach.

Is laser safe for rosacea and redness?
The right laser is, and it's one of the more effective tools we have. Aerolase is gentle and safe for reactive skin and every skin tone, which makes it well suited to redness. As always, we assess first to make sure it's right for you.

What makes redness worse?
Common triggers include heat, sun, alcohol, spicy food, stress and harsh skincare, though everyone's are slightly different. A big part of managing redness is learning yours, and we'll help you do that rather than leaving you guessing.
