How it works

PicoSure works in ultra-fast bursts of energy, so quick they're over in a fraction of a second. That speed lets it shatter pigment into particles so fine your body simply clears them away, with far less heat than older lasers, which means less trauma to your skin and less downtime for you. It also does a second job at the same time: gently prompting your skin to build fresh collagen and elastin. So you're not just lifting the pigment you can see; you're rejuvenating the skin underneath it.

What it feels like

Most people describe the sensation as a series of quick, warm flicks, like a light elastic band against the skin. It's fast. Does it hurt, and is there downtime?
Most people find it very tolerable, describing it as quick, warm flicks against the skin. Downtime is minimal compared to older lasers, usually some warmth and pinkness for a few hours to a day. We'll talk you through what to expect for your treatment and skin. 

Is it safe for darker skin tones?
PicoSure is one of the better-suited lasers for deeper skin tones. Older lasers work with heat, which can affect melanin-rich skin and trigger further pigmentation. PicoSure uses ultra-fast pressure rather than heat to break down pigment, which considerably lowers the risk. As with every skin, we assess yours properly first.

How many sessions will I need?
Pigmentation and scarring usually need a course rather than a single treatment, with sessions spaced a few weeks apart. We'll give you a realistic number once we've assessed your skin, never an open-ended commitment.
